Privacy Statement

Preliminary Note

Thank you for your interest in my business. As proprietor of v12books I take data protection seriously.

You can visit my website basically without providing any personal data. The processing of personal data may become necessary if a person concerned utilises required services through my website. Given that the processing of personal data is needed, cosent will be obtained from the person concerned as far as no legal basis exists.

The processing of personal data (such as name, address, e-mail account or phone number of a person concerned), is always in accordance with the basic regulations of data privacy protection (GDPR) and in line with valid country-specific data protection regulations.

With the following data privacy statement I inform the public about nature, extent and purpose of individual-related data compiled, used and processed by me. This privacy policy also imparts rights granted for data subjects.

Responsible for the processing I have implemented technical and organisational measures to ensure complete and maximum protection of personal data processed through my website. Unfortunately no data transmission via internet or data systems can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. They include security gaps basically. I therefor offer to persons concerned transmitting data by e-mails or phone calls.

Definitions of terms

This privacy statement is based on definitions of terms, that were used by the European issuers for directives and regulations in line with law GDPR article 4. The privacy statement shall be both, easily readable and easy to understand. To ensure that this is the case I elucidate employed terminologies initially.

„personal data“ means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (‘data subject’); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of a natural person;

„individuals concerned“ every identified or identifiable natural person, whose personal data get processed by the processing responsible.

„processing“ means any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise made available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction;

„restriction of processing“ means the marking of stored personal data with the aim of limiting their processing in the future;

„profiling“ means any form of automated processing of personal data consisting use of personal data to evaluate certain personal aspects relating to a natural person, in particular to analyse or predict aspects concerning that natural person’s performance at work, economic situation, health, personal preferences, interests, reliability, behaviour, location or movements;

„person responsible“ the natuaral or legal person, public authority, agency or any other body, which alone or jointly with others determines the purposes of means of processing personal data; if the purposes and means of processing are determined by European laws or regulations of member states the controller or the specific criteria for his nomination may be designated respectively.

„recipient“ means a natural or legal person, public authority, agency or another body, to which the personal data are disclosed, whether a third party or not. However, public authorities which may receive personal data within the framework of a particular inquiry in accordance with Union or Member State law shall not be regarded as recipients; the processing of these data by public authorities shall be in compliance with the applicable data protection rules according to the purposes of the processing;

„third party“ means a natural or legal person, public authority, agency or body other than the data subject, controller, processor and persons who, under the direct authority of the controller or processor, are authorised to process personal data;

„consent“ of the data subject means any freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous indication of the data subject’s wishes by which he or she, by a statement or by a clear affirmative action, signifies agreement to the processing of personal data relating to him or her;

Visiting the website

You can visit my website basically without disclosing your identity. Calling up my website information gets sent to the server of my website, activated by the browser used on your terminal. This information gets stored temporary in a commonly called logfile. In the course of this procedure, the following data is collected and stored, without any action on your part, until the time of automatic deletion.

  • IP-address of the requesting computer,
  • Date and time of access,
  • Name und URL of requested file,
  • Website, from which the access initiated (Referrer-URL),
  • The browser used, possibly the operating system of your computer and the name of your access provider.

The mentioned data will be processed by me for the following purposes:

  • To guarantee an error-free connection buildup of the website,
  • Warranty of convenient use of my website,
  • Analysis of security and stabilty of the system, and also
  • for further administrative purposes.

The legal basis for data processing is art. 6 par. 1 p. 1 lit. f GDPR. My legitimate interest ensues from above listed purposes for data collection. On no account collected data will be used for the purpose to draw conclusions regarding individuals.

Beyond that cookies as well as analytic services are utilised for my website. Referring to, explanatory notes can be looked in this privacy declaration.

Using my contact form

For questions of any kind I offer the possibility to contact me using provided contact form (Contact us) at my website. In doing so a valid e-mail address is necessary so that I know from whom an inquiry originates and to be able to reply to. Additional particulars are optional. You are completely free in your decision entering data to the contact form.

Data processing with purpose contacting will be accomplished on art. 6 par. 1 p. 1 lit. a GDPR on basis of your explicit unsolicitous given consent.

Using the contact form individual-related data will be deleted automatically after settlement of you inquiry.

Ordering via my website

You can perform orders via my website registered. You can register to my website also ordering later on. Advantage of a registration is that for orders to come it is only required to log in with your e-mail address and with your password to the website, without entering contact details anew.

Your personal data in doing so get entered to an input mask in the sequel transmitted to me and stored. If you order registered to my website the following data will be collected:

  • salutatory address, surname. forename
  • a valid e-mail address,
  • address,

This data are collected,

  • to identify you as my customer;
  • to be able to process, to accomplish and to conclude your order;
  • for the correspondence with you;
  • for billing;
  • for the handling of liability claims as well as in case of possible enforcement against you;
  • to ensure the technical administration of my website;
  • to manage my customers data.

During the ordering procedure consent to process above stated data will be obtained by me from you.

This data processing for purposes such as appropriate handling of your order and for the fulfilment on both sides of obligations under the contract of sale and/or your registration is required according to art. 6 par. 1 p. 1 lit. b GDPR.

Personal data collected for the handling of your order must be preserved in an orderly manner until expiry of the statutory preservation period, they will be deleted shortly thereafter, except where art. 6 par. 1 p. 1 lit. c GDPR requires further storage according to tax-based and commercial law safekeeping and documentation obligations (persuant to HGB, StGB or AO) or because you agreed exceeding data storage following art. 6 par. 1 p. 1 lit. a GDPR.


You can subscribe to my e-mail newsletter to receive information regarding current offers. Mandatory only therefor is to state your e-mail address. All personal data are optional, they will be used by me e.g. for a personal form of address. For the transmission of newsletters I use the so called Double Opt-in method, meaning that you receive e-mail newsletter only if you have agreed to prior. At the application of you receive a confirmation e-mail first. Within this e-mail a confirmation link must be clicked on to activate the receipt of newsletters henceforth. Doing so you consent to my use of personal data according to art. 6 par. 1 lit. a GDPR.

Concomitant with your application for the receipt of newsletters I store your IP-address as registered by your internet service provider and the time stamp of application. I do this, to make possible to trace eventual misuse of your e-mail address later on. Data collected by me during your application for the receipt of newsletters will be used only for the purpose of advertising proposals by means of newsletters.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time with effect for the future, through a click on a link at the newsletter dedicated for. Further information referring to the counter-order of the newsletter you can extract from respective newsletter e-mail.

Unsubscribing the newsletter your e-mail address will be instantly removed from my newsletter mailing address list, insofar as you did not explicitly consent to further use of your data, in case of also the continuing and legal use of data reserved for me, both as agreed upon will be explained in the corresponding declaration.

Disclosure of data

A transfer of personal data (name, delivery address etc.) by me to third parties shall be implemented exclusively in connection with contractual procedures to service partners, such as related to the delivery contracted logistic company and the bank or credit institution engaged with payment matters, provided that this is rquired for the forwarding of wares resp. for the payment process. The legal basis for the transfer of data is art. 6 par. 1 p. 1 lit. b GDPR.

Disclosure of e-mail address and/or phone number to shipping providers

If you have given permission expilicitly to transfer your e-mail address and/or phone number to a shipping provider in connection with your order, I will transmit this data to respective shipping provider based on art. 6 par. 1 lit. a GDPR; for you to the effect to bring in agreement with, details regards your consigment (e.g. delivery date, point of delivery).

Towards above stated data protection responsible, you can at any time, retract consent for future effect given regarding data tansmitted to shipping providers.

With regard to order processing I cooperate in Germany with the following listed mail-order firms: Deutsche Post AG, DHL Paket GmbH, Hermes Germany GmbH.


In case of payment via PayPal, credit card via PayPal, debit via PayPal or “purchase on account” via PayPal I pass on your payment data as part of the payment process to PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., 22-24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg (hereafter referred to as “PayPal”). PayPal reserves the right to make credit assessments regards methods of payment which are credit card payment via PayPal, debit via PayPal oder “purchase on account” or „deferred payment“ via PayPal. For that, payment data will be transmitted to credit agencies eventually, on basis of art. 6 par. 1 lit. f GDPR.

As related to probability of non-payment, the result of credit assessments is used by PayPal to enable decisions about the provision of respective form of payment. The credit check may contain probability values (score values). Provided that score values have influence on the result of a credit check, they are based on scientifically proven and acknowledged mathematical-statistical processes. The calculation of score values incorporates among others address data. For further privacy information please refer to PayPal data protection principals:

You have the right to contradict the processing of your personal data at any time with a notice to PayPal. PayPal might nevertheless remain authorised processing your personal data, as far as this is required for conventionary payment processing.

A transmission of your personal data to third parties for other purposes than those aforementioned does not take place.

I pass on to third parties your personal data if:

  • you have given explicit permission according to art. 6 par. 1 p. 1 lit. a GDPR,
  • the transfer according to art. 6 par. 1 p. 1 lit. f GDPR is required to raise a claim, to exercise or defence legal claims provided that there is no reason to believe that you have an overriding and legitimate interest in non-disclosure.
  • in case that for passing on according to art. 6 par. 1 p. 1 lit. c GDPR a statutory obligation exists, and also
  • if this is permissible in law to art. 6 par. 1 p. 1 lit. b GDPR for the handling of required contractual relationships with you.

As part of the ordering process your consent will be obtained for the sharing of data with third parties.

Use of cookies

I use cookies on my webshop site. These are small files, your browser creates and stores automatically on your terminal device (laptop, tablet, smartphone or the like) when you visit my website. Cookies do not cause any damage on your terminal device, they do not contain viruses, Trojans or other malware.

Cookie-store information in each case they result from specifical in connection with utilised terminals. This does not imply that I obtain immediate cognizance of your identity.

The application of cookies serves for one thing the purpose to organise your use of my offer more convenient. I utilise session cookies, in order to identify that you have already visited individual sites of my website. This cookies are deleted automatically when you have left the website.

Furthermore I utilise temporary cookies to optimise ease of use, they get stored for a set period of time on your terminal. If you visit my website anew, in order to avail my services, it will be recognised automatical that you have been already a visitor of my website and also the inputs and settings you have made, to the effect that they have not to be done repeatedly.

On the other hand I utilise cookies to statistically capture the utilisation of my website and to analyse with the objection to optimise the offer. These cookies enable, in the course of a revisit of my website, to recognise automatical that you have already accessed the website. They will be deleted after a defined time automatically.

Data processed by use of cookies are required for the purpose to safeguard my legitimate interests and those of third parties according to art. 6 par. 1 p. 1 lit. GDPR.

Most browsers accept cookies automatical. You can set your browser functions to refuse the storage of cookies or to the effect that you are always asked for permission before a cookie gets stored on your computer. The complete deactivation of cookies may cause that you can not use all functions of my website.

Google Analytics

On my website I use Google Analytics and other applications in order to evaluate the user behaviour of my customers and to adjust offers to meet their demands. For this purpose I use the analysis service of Google Inc. (Google Analytics). Google Analytics uses for this process so-called “cookies“. These are small text data which are stored on your computer and which facilitate an analysis of the use of my website by virtue of your visit. The information provided by the cookies about your visit of my website (including your IP-address) will be transmitted to a Google Server in the United States of America and they get stored there. Google then uses this information to evaluate your user behaviour on my website. Thus reports about your activities can be compiled in order to produce further services related to the Internet and to my website. Google may pass on the information collected this way to third parties, insofar as this is legally required or third parties work on these data on behalf of Google. Based on its own company terms & conditions Google will not associate your IP-address with any other data held by Google. You can prevent the installation of cookies with respective settings of your browser software. However, I must point out to you that you might not be able to use all functions of my website. Using my website you agree to the processing of the data acquired about you by Google in the manner previously described and for the purpose previously explained.

You may opt out of data collection and storage by Google at any time with future effect. (

In view of the discussion on the use of analytical tools with complete IP addresses, I point out that this website uses Google Analytics with the extension ‘_anonymizelp()’ and consequently IP addresses are only used in shortened form in order to prevent persons from being identified.

The website owner herewith explicitly declares, that no analysis (including geo-localisation) or user behaviour will be performed with the aid of complete IP-addresses, without the consent of the person concerned.

Links to websites of third parties

The links published by me are researched and selected with the utmost caution. I have no influence on the current and future design, layout and contents of linked pages. I am not responsible for the contents of linked websites and I do not internalise explicitly their contents. The operators and owners of linked websites alone are liable for illegal, incorrect or incomplete contents and for damages incurred through use or disuse on these websites. No liability will be accepted by the party which solely refers to such a website via link. I am responsible for external contents only if I have positive knowledge of even possibly illegal or prosecutable contents, and if I have the technical ability and in case it is reasonable to stop or to prevent further use of such websites.

Use of social plugins

My internet presence does not use any social plugins (“Plugins”), no functions of internet services, no embedded functions to display and play videos, no Google ”+1“ button and no web services for presentation of interactive maps.

Rights of data subject

You have the right:

  • in accordance with art. 15 GDPR to demand disclosure of your personal data processed by me. In particular you can demand disclosure about processing purposes, the category of personal data, the categories of recipients to whom this data were disclosed to and further will be disclosed to, planned storage duration of data, about the existent right to rectification, about deletion, restriction of processing or contradiction, the existence of right of complaint, the origin of your data, provided that they were not collected by me, and also about automated decision-making including profiling and possibly meaningful information on respective details;
  • in accordance with art. 16 GDPR to claim rectification without delay of inaccurate, imperfectly or incomplete personal data which I have saved referring to you;
  • in accordance with art. 17 GDPR to claim the deletion of your personal data which I have saved, insofar as processing for the exercise of freedom of expression and information, as to comply with legal obligation, for reasons of public interests or enforcement, exercise or defense of legal claims is not required;
  • in accordance with art. 18 GDPR to demand the limitation of processing of your personal data, if and when the accuracy of data is contradicted by you, the processing is unlawful, if you however decline their deletion and also I do not need this data anymore, but you, for enforcement, exercise or defense of legal claims or if as per art. 21 GDPR you have lodged an opposition against the data processing;
  • in accordance with art. 20 GDPR to demand the receipt of your personal data, provided by you for me, in a structured, current and machine-readable format or to claim the transmission for another responsible person;
  • in accordance with par. 7 par. 3 GDPR to revoke at any time your consent once given to me. As a consequence, I am lo longer authorised to continue the processing of your data formerly based on this consent.
  • In accordance with art. 77 GDPR to complain to a supervisory authority. As a general rule you can for this purpose apply to the supervisory authority of your place of residence, or your place of employment or to my place my of business.

Right of objection

Provided, that your personal data are processed based on legitimate interests pursuant to art. 6 par. 1 p. 1 lit. f GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data according to art. 21 GDPR as far as reasons exist that cause from your particular situation or if the objection is directed against direct marketing. In the latter case you have a general right of objection, that will be implemented by me without giving any reasons for a specific situation.

If you want to make use of the right of objection it is sufficient to send an e-mail to the above stated e-mail address of the data proccessing responsible person.

Data security

During your website visit I use the widely successful and secure SSL-method (Secure Socket Layer) combined with the highest level of encryption that is supported by your browser.

As a general rule it is a 256-bit encryption. In case of your browser does not support the 256-bit encryption draw on instead to 128-Bit v3 technologies. Whether a single page of my website is transmitted encrypted you can recognise from the key symbol or padlock icon in the bottom status bar of your browser.

Besides I make use of appropriate technical organisational security measures in accordance with all guidelines of the current GDPR, to protect your data at the best way possible against accidental or deliberate manipulation, loss, destruction or the access by unjustified third parties. My security measures are improved on an ongoing basis in accordance with the development of technical standards.
